Here at Fawn Brook Labradors, puppies earn their names. As a puppy while retrieving bumpers, Ranzzi, with anti-gravity powers, flew through the air to insure she was the first to the bumper. For her first real-bird retrieves, she retrieved faster than a bolt of lightning. She is blonde, smart, driven, a fast learner but at the same time, loves to play with everyone and is a flirt (an intellectual party girl to the tenth degree!).  Who did she remind us of? Ayla Ranzz (aka Lightning Lass or Spark) of the Legion of Super-Heroes!

Ranzzi is a darling. She is on the long side with a slight tuck, muscular and an incredible sense of balance. These traits give her the speed in the field. She takes after her sire, Play It Again Sam, with drive and brains. When a bird is thrown over the horizon and out of sight, from the partial trajectory that she observed, she precisely calculates where the bird landed and makes a clean line on the retrieve. Does she have the inherit traits of a bird dog? At 8 weeks old, we were at a friends house field training dogs. Ranzzi disappeared and when we went looking for her, she was dragging a pheasant across the yard to us. We were surprised that she knew what a pheasant was and that she wanted to bring it back to us. On second thought, maybe she was bringing the pheasant back to us because that was where her litter mates were and she wanted to show off her incredible find!
