Ponté is one of a kind. He's a lover and has no mean bone in his body. When a litter is whelped, he helps the mom by cleaning and taking care of the kids. He is very affectionate and loves to keep you warm at night by snuggling next to you in bed. Ponté's appeal is his head: he takes after his pappy, Miles, and grand-pappy, Ghandi with a smile that makes you want to come back time after time. He loves to be around other dogs and his key objective is "Let's go PLAY!!!!" Goofy? Yes. Good in the field? Yes. Good in the ring? Well, uh, kinda - he focuses on other perspective playmates in the ring with that "PARTY" look and is challenging at times to keep focused (but then again, he's just a pup!) .
Ponté took a limited sabbatical from the ring for most of the latter half of 2014 to contemplate on the nature of dog shows (he takes after his grand-pappy Ghandi). OK, maybe the real reason is that we had litters on the ground and had limited time to travel to out of state dog shows. Ponté had fun in Orlando at the Eukanuba shows and surprised us by taking his class in the LRC specialty. At two years of age, his biggest weakness in the ring is that he has an acute nose for "girls in season" which causes him to focus on them rather than me. It's a teenager thing. FORTUNATELY, he is maturing and becoming more proper in the ring and we expect good things to be happening soon.
We believe Ponté is the reincarnation of John Belushi.
