Lunker is an incredible Labrador. He's big boned but muscular so he works well in the ring and in the field. In the ring, one of his main traits is his side gait: he reaches far and his movement graceful. In the field, Lunker is driven and has a nose that surpasses almost any nose that we know (for smelling, that is)! Even though his drive is focused, he loves to play when he is not working. One of his favorite summer pastimes is frolicking through wildflower meadows chasing butterflies! Lunker is a main character at our local Home Depot because he likes to grab his leash and walk around greeting their customers. What is fun about Lunker: he has a little too much skin which causes wrinkles to fold, especially on his forehead, and that gives him his distinctive appeal.
In the ring, it took two years for Lunker to become a champion and the main reason for his extended campaign was that he was our first dog to be shown and our guinea pig for learning how to handle a show dog. Lunker finished his championship with two 4-point majors with those wins being handled by Susan Rose and Jay Acker (when we let others handle Lunker, he kicks butt with major wins!). Towards the end of 2014 we slowly matured into better handlers in the ring and Lunker started to win group placings and selects at specialties under our lead. In 2014, Lunker was ranked #6 in the US for Owner-Handled and will be in the top ten again for 2015. Many professional handlers in the Rocky Mountain region love Lunker for his charismatic personality.
There will be only one Lunker in this world.
